SOUTHPAW BAR & SUSHI

Kick-starting 2019 post with a Omakase Valentine's dinner specially arranged by the husband.
Omakase: (in a Japanese restaurant) a type of meal consisting of dishes selected by the chef.
The fun thing about Omakase is that you do not know what food you are going to have, so just relax and wait for the excitement that is going to enter your palate.

SOUTHPAW BAR & SUSHI
11 Cavan Rd, #01-04 Cavan Suites, Singapore 209848
Sunday: Closed
Monday - Friday: 12 - 2pm, 6 - 11pm
Saturday: 6 - 11pm

Within walking distance from the Jalan Besah Stadium, Southpaw Bar is located along the same stretch as the popular Lai Huat Seafood.
The entrance is not very attractive, so do keep a lookout for it.
Other than food menu, they have Sake menu too
Since this place is famous for their Omakase, we decided to go with Omakase Matsu
Every dish is specially and uniquely put together by Lead Chef, Kenny Khoo
Appetizer
Japanese Sea Snail
Fire Squid with Miso paste
Japanese White Bait with Spring Onion and Ginger
Sashimi Carpaccio
Salmon Carpaccio with Caviar, Truffle and Bonito flakes
Sashimi
White fish, Tako with Yuzu, Bluefin Tuna, Wite Tuna
(And some other names which I didn't manage to catch)
The dipping sauce is interesting!! After the assistant introduced the food, she passed us the green herb on top of it to smell before hitting it with her palms and pull it into the soy sauce together with the chrysanthemum petals, adding a little surprise to a normal sashimi soy sauce
Chef Kenny hard at work
They say a focus man is the most charming
Assorted Sushi
Sea Bream / Sea Bass
Bluefin Tuna wit Japanese Mountain Yam
Gizzard Shark
Sweet Shrimp with torched Miso paste
UNI!!! Which was served on your palm directly to 'cheers' with your dining partner
Anago (Saltwater Eel)
*Fun-fact: Unagi, on the other hand, is fresh water eel
 Miso Salmon with Sesame sauce
 Scallop with torched Foie Gra
Termaki Roll
Chopped Tuna belly
Chef's Special Miso soup
Chef's choice of Dessert
Handmade Japanese Mochi
(Super love this!! Soft, moist, and totally not sticking to the teeth)

All in all, there is NO one dish that I do not like. I LOVE THEM ALL!! The quality of the food is fantastic.
However, do note that this is a sall cosy intimate restaurant which can sit approximately 10 seatings.
So do call and book reservation early.

Of course, ending this post with a photo of the hubby =)

CAPTAIN K SEAFOOD TOWER

Hello my fellow foodies, so sorry I have been inactive for a year!! I have not stopped eating, just stopped posting because of my busy schedule. I promise to make an effort to come back posting again. Been to many many many many many many many (oh well, you get what I mean) food places this 1 year and I can't wait to post all at one go!!
But all in all, one place kept lingering in my mind and I just have to share it first.

CAPTAIN K SEAFOOD TOWER
30 Princep St, #01-02, Income @ Princep, Singapore 188647
Operating hours:
Mon - 6pm to 10.30pm
Tue to Thurs - 12pm to 3pm, 6pm to 10.30pm
Fri - 12pm to 3pm, 6pm to 11pm
Sat - 11.30am to 3pm, 5pm to 11pm
Sun - 11.30am to 3pm, 5pm to 10.30pm

A Korean-style seafood place.
Sorry for the poor resolution of the photos as there are taken from my Samsung S6 phone.
Typical as it is, the place is blast with all sort of K-Pop MVs you can know of
The menu recommends you how many tier is suitable for how many pax for consumption.

Presenting to you the signature 9-tiers seafood tower
1st tier: Shellfish (Clams & Mussels)
 2nd tier: Prawns
 3rd tier: Shellfish (Oysters)
For a fan of oysters, but these are pretty good!!
4th tier: Crustacean (Lobsters)
 5th tier: Crustacean (Crabs)
6th tier: Squid
The squid is wrapped over fragrant stick yam rice
 7th tier: Prawns
 8th tier: Scallops
The scallops are cooked with garlic and placed nicely on top of a lump of glass noodle
9th tier: Soup base (Premium Korean Ginseng Chicken + $15)
There are other soup bases for you to choose from, Kombu Dash & Korean Kimchi
When you reached the last tier which is the soup base, it is more like a steamboat style where you can choose from a variety of colour-plated dishes at the fridge display for you to add into your soup. However, we are so full that we did not have space in our tummy to eat anymore stuff. We just drank the soup as it is and what is more important, it is REFILLABLE!

You know when you hang out for lunch with such a big group of people, sometimes not everyone will like a certain dish on the table? But NOOOO! I went with my group of 10 pax and for the first time everyone LOVES every single dish. Yes let me repeat, everyone of us love every single dish. All the dishes are so fresh and yummy, and it is very reasonable and affordable after you divide out the cost for the recommended tier for the number of pax.
So if you are a seafood lover, this is definitely a place you HAVE TO try it out!!!
