WHEELER'S YARD

Always love an impromptu meetup for a meal, first with my colleagues then my crazy super on uni dancemates.
Surprisingly, both at the same place.

WHEELER'S YARD
28 Lorong Ampas Singapore 328781
Operating hour: Tues to Thurs / Sun - 10.30am to 10pm, Fri to Sat - 10.30am to 11pm
Kitchen closes at 5-6pmfor daily turnover

Not only is it a cafe, Wheeler's Yard also housed an industrial warehouse offering handmade urban bicycles for sale.
Mocha $6
Truffle Fries $14.90
Crispy coated fries drizzled with truffle oil, topped with freshly shaved parmigiano cheese
(One of the nicest truffle fries I tasted, with sufficient amount of truffle oil)
Pan-seared Salmon $22.90
Grilled Salmon fillet served with sauteed green & creamy mash
Prawn Aglio Olio $20.90
Succulent sea tiger prawns, garlic, chilli flakes, cherry tomatoes & parsley
(One of the chef's recommendation, love the crunchy prawn)
Of course, not forgetting the mandatory shot in front of the big blue gate with the colleagues.
****
Came back another day with my uni dancemates!!
Of course, how can we not order the truffle fries again. =P
Flat White $5, Ice Mocha $7
Smoked Salmon & Scrambled Eggs $18.90
Served on toast with garden salad
Eggs Benedict $17.90
(A special menu for a limited time period, personally love the meat that goes with it but a tad salty I must say. Poached egg could be a little more oozy~)
Soursop Meringue Tart $7.50, Lemon Tart $6
Lastly, our big blue gate shot with a twist. Cant say how much I love this bunch of people. <3

THE 7TH CYLINDER

Hello my fellow foodies, yes I know I have been 'missing' for almost 3 months. So sorry for the MIA. Currently experiencing the quarter-life crisis; changing job, passing down, and getting used to the new job. So just a little update on my life, I recently just left my first ever fulltime job and am currently adapting to my new job now. In addition, I have also started on a new venture with my soulbuddy and we are in the progress of getting it started REAL soon. Super excited about all our ideas and plans!! So do stay tune as I will be releasing the news bit by bit. =)

So back to my fooooooooooood~ Brought my mum for dinner on Tuesday to a cafe I went previously only to find out they were closed for a private event. So as we were making our way back to the car, we chanced upon a random cafe nearby that looks pretty decent and decided to give it a try.

PS: Sorry for the pixelated photos, taken by my Samsung S4.

THE 7TH CYLINDER
1 Jalan Pisang, #01-01 Singapore 199069
Operating hours:
Mon, Wed to Thurs, Sun - 12pm to 9pm, Fri to Sat - 12pm to 10pm (Close on Tues)
Red Velvet $6
Delicious, sweet and buttery aroma. Perfect for all red velvet cake lovers
(I'm a crazy red velvet fan. I expected a rich, thick creamy drink like what you would taste from a hot chocolate drink, but to me, this might be too diluted for a drink. Overall presentation looks good, and I do like the red velvet aroma of it.)
Class 2A Breakfast $15.90
Oven baked Chicken/Pork Sausage with crispy Turkey/Pork bacon, creamy mushroom sauce and Scrambled/Sunny Side eggs
(Their in-house signature. Love love the sauteed mushroom and overall it a good balance of taste, not too salty and not too bland.)
Creamy Smoked Chicken $9.90
Sauteed smoked chicken in delicious cream sauce
(Another in-house signature. Smoked chicken taste good, however the cream sauce may get a little too 'gelat' if you are not a big fan of it.)
IceCream Sandwich by Icecreamcookieco $7.90
Assorted IceCream sandwiched between cookie biscuits
Available in: Choco Hazelnut, English Earl Grey, Milk & Cookies, Strawberry Shortcake
Optional Add-on: Toasted Marshmallow $2
(Went for the English Earl Grey as I am an EarlGrey fanatic. Quite an interesting way for icecream, and the taste is not bad.)
The cafe is open up by a few motorcyclist activists who believes the joy in motorcycling is not just the journey but also the destinations. The space under the roof is meant to be filled with passion, pursuit and a general lust for the two-wheeled machine. So beside great food and coffee, the visual pleasure of seeing some of the guests' machines. The 7th Cylinder's philosophy is built on the simple constructs of culture, community and inclusiveness. The rule is simple - 'We won't feed you or make you do anything we won't want for our friends'

Do keep your eyes open for the cafe when you visit as the entrance is not really visible. Keep a lookout for two big tin cylinder with their menu on it.

HOSHINO COFFEE + RIDERS CAFE

A long overdue food review from last year, always wanted to share about this place but never had the time. Then, I got excited when I visited a new foodplace and forgotten about this. Haha!!
So here goes~ Situated in a shopping mall, which serve what I feel like a Japanese Western cuisine. Nice mains and desserts, what more can I ask for?

HOSHINO COFFEE
Plaza Singapura, 68 Orchard Road #03-84 Singapore 238839
Operating hour: 11.30am to 9pm, daily
Matcha Smoothie $9
Carbonara $14
Spaghetti in cream sauce with Yolk and Bacon
Squid Ink Spaghetti $15
Spaghetti served in Squid Ink with Extra Virgin Oil and Garlic Taste
(Always a fan of Squid Ink, and this is not bad)
Matcha Souffle $9.80
Egg whites stiffly beaten with Matcha powder, added into a smooth & rich custard
(Love love love this!! Warm moist green tea flavoured souffle. Not too sweet & not too soft.)
Chocolat Fondant with Softee $9.80
The queue for Hoshino is constantly long, even on weird timing on weekdays. So be prepared to wait up for a few minutes to get your seats.

This next cafe place that I want to introduce has always been a cafe that I want to visit. Made a wasted trip once because it was under renovation then and we had a funny encounter on our way out as it was situated in quite a deserted place. So then I heard it was reopened, so back I went to try out the cafe after a hectic day at work.

RIDERS CAFE
Bukit Timah Saddle Club, 51 Fairways Drive Singapore 286965
Operating hours: Sun to Thurs - 8am to 9pm, Fri & Sat - 8am to 10pm (Closed on Mon)
On the wall along the stairs up the cafe
An open-concept cafe with ceiling fans, was a little humid when we visited in the afternoon. But totally love the vintage feels~
We went at a bad timing, no horses were running at the stable
Indulging in your food while enjoying the view of the horse
Long Black $4
Iced Latte $5.50
Additional Flavoured Syrup: Hazelnut $1
Spaghetti Aglio e Olio $26
Crabmeat, Spinach, Chili Oil, Garlic & Parsley
(Chewy crabmeat with cheese shavings on top. Yummy~)
The 'Almighty' Roast Chicken $29
Roasted Fingerlings & Broccoli Rabe
(Not a fan of chicken but this roasted chicken is really juicy and tender, with a little sweet citrus sauce)
A video to show you the cafe layout

The cafe also serves brunch menu till 11am daily, might be a little challenge for me if I want to try out their brunch given their inaccessible location. Haha!! Would advice people to drive in if they want to visit the cafe.
